The journey to Flow and Throw

A woman working on a pottery wheel in a ceramics studio, shaping a clay piece with her hands.

Mercedes Jaskolka is a ceramic artist and yoga instructor who has experienced, first-hand, the healing power of movement and creativity.

A childhood marked by trauma led her to seeking talking therapy, but true healing and transformation didn’t occur until she found embodied practices - clay in her hands and the ancient wisdom of yoga. Like clay reshaped on the wheel, she discovered that the mind-body can be softened, reformed, and given a new story.

Flow and Throw® is the weaving together of these practices. In each workshop, we begin with yin yoga to ground the body, calm the nervous system, and release tension. From this place of stillness, we then connect with the earth through clay. The hands carry memory and emotion, yes, but they can also rewrite our stories. As we work with clay, we see how our inner state shapes our touch, and how our touch shapes what is created.

This is a ceremonial journey inward. The process becomes a meditation, an opportunity to let go, to get messy, to feel joy, and to reconnect to the self. Each workshop is both playful and profound. A space where creativity becomes healing, and where participants awaken to their own magic.

Mercedes’ journey informs every session she teaches. Her own hands healed her trauma: pottery gave form to her emotions, while yoga asanas activated healing in her body. She now shares this transformative practice with others, guiding workshops that invite the mind, body, and spirit to reconnect.

Many yoga teachers and studios try to combine clay and yoga as a marketing gimmick, a way to innovate their offerings. They do not know clay as intimately and have not carried this story as deeply as Mercedes.

We’re here to do good

“If it made sense to me, and changed my life, why can’t I share this with others?”

Flow and Throw® is a community interest company, meaning that we engage with charities and community organisations to deliver social impact initiatives.

Every booking made circles back to providing healing for communities in need.

“It didn't feel like we were just moving from pose to pose, it felt like an inner journey. In short, it felt more ceremonial, rather than just another 'class' or exercise. It was the perfect surrender and reset.”
